MOLA (Medical Organization for Latino Advancement) is a growing nonprofit dedicated to advancing Latino health equity through education, mentorship, research, advocacy, and professional development. As our organization evolves, we have an opportunity to strengthen our governance, leadership structure, and operational processes to support sustainable growth and greater impact.
Our Executive Committee is seeking an experienced facilitator to lead a three-hour strategic visioning and governance retreat on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. in Chicago (in-person preferred; virtual acceptable).
We want to critically examine our board and Executive Committee structure, bylaws, leadership roles, decision-making processes, accountability, and organizational priorities. Like many growing, largely volunteer-led nonprofits, we face challenges balancing ambitious programming with effective governance, operational capacity, and leadership continuity.
While we have begun identifying areas for improvement through leadership discussions and organizational transitions, we would benefit from an independent, skilled facilitator who can guide candid conversations, build consensus, challenge assumptions, and help us move from discussion to decisions.
Our desired outcome is a shared vision, clearer governance and operational priorities, and a practical action plan with defined responsibilities and next steps. We are seeking someone experienced in nonprofit board development, strategic planning, organizational change, and collaborative facilitation.
We seek an experienced pro bono consultant to design and facilitate a focused, three-hour strategic visioning and governance retreat for MOLA's Executive Committee on November 21, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. in Chicago (in-person preferred; virtual acceptable).
Expected deliverables:
Pre-retreat preparation: Review MOLA's current bylaws, leadership structure, and organizational priorities; meet briefly with leadership to identify key challenges and develop a focused retreat agenda.
Facilitated leadership retreat: Guide an engaging, candid, and solutions-oriented discussion addressing organizational vision, board and Executive Committee structure, governance, leadership responsibilities, decision-making, operational processes, and accountability.
Governance and organizational recommendations: Identify priority improvements, including potential bylaw revisions, structural changes, and opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
Actionable roadmap: Provide a concise post-retreat summary documenting areas of consensus, outstanding decisions, recommended next steps, responsible parties, and suggested timelines.
Success would mean our Executive Committee emerges with a shared understanding of MOLA's strategic direction, greater clarity around leadership roles and governance, agreement on the most important organizational improvements, and a realistic roadmap for implementation.
We are not expecting a comprehensive strategic plan or fully revised bylaws within three hours. Rather, we want an experienced, objective facilitator who can help us ask the right questions, navigate differing perspectives, establish priorities, and translate meaningful discussion into concrete action.
