About the Opportunity

We receive grants from government and foundation donors in several countries and run programs through country offices in North Africa and the Levant. We want our financial policies, internal controls and US filings to meet US nonprofit best practice and each donor's rules at the same time.

Deliverables: a gap analysis of our financial policies and internal controls against US nonprofit best practice and donor requirements, and a one-page annual compliance calendar covering federal and state filings, the audit and donor reporting. The ideal volunteer is a CPA or nonprofit controller with experience in international grants. We expect it to take six to eight weeks at a few hours a week.

Organization Mission

The Munathara Initiative is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds inclusive public debate in the Middle East and North Africa. We produce televised and online debates, town halls and civic media programs that give young people, women and marginalized communities a voice in public life. In 2019 we organized the Arab world's first televised presidential debates, in Tunisia, which more than six million people watched. We have produced over 200 live debates. We work in Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon and Syria, we are strictly nonpartisan, and we are the only Arab member of Debates International.
