About the Opportunity

The challenge: Our US board has four directors, and we want to add two or three with experience in nonprofit finance, compliance, and fundraising. We don’t yet have a clear picture of where our board’s skills are strong and where the gaps are, a defined role for new directors, or a plan for finding candidates.

What we’re looking for: A consultant with board development and recruitment experience to help us assess our current board, define what we need, and build a plan we can carry out ourselves.

Deliverables:

A board skills matrix showing our current strengths and the gaps to fill in finance, compliance, and fundraising
A short role description for directors
A recruitment plan with outreach materials, including a message we can adapt

Success looks like: A documented process for recruiting our next directors, which our team can run without the consultant. Our team will do the outreach.

Organization Mission

The Munathara Initiative is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds inclusive public debate in the Middle East and North Africa. We produce televised and online debates, town halls and civic media programs that give young people, women and marginalized communities a voice in public life. In 2019 we organized the Arab world's first televised presidential debates, in Tunisia, which more than six million people watched. We have produced over 200 live debates. We work in Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon and Syria, we are strictly nonpartisan, and we are the only Arab member of Debates International.
