Fundraising and Donor Diversification Strategy

The foundation operates Black Catholic Messenger, a nonprofit digital media publication covering stories of interest to African-American Catholics, continuing the mission of Daniel Rudd, who founded the first Black Catholic newspaper in the late 19th century. We aim to diversify the Catholic media space with Black voices, which are often ignored and marginalized within our Church, and bring a fresh perspective to issues often seen as intractable within U.S. Catholic culture. Our writers and creators are committed to justice and aim to create important conversations around equity, representation, inculturation, and progress in a context where these are often seen as boogeymen or antithetical to the faith. In short, we amplify Black Catholic voices in all their diversity.
