For this session, we’re looking for help and guidance to help us with outreach, communications, and fundraising. We’d like to discuss ideas of how to clearly explain our mission, improve our online presence, connect with funders or partners, and get support or equipment for our grassroots journalism efforts. We’re still a small team and need guidance on how to grow our impact with the resources we have.

United Somali Roots (USR) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to empowering marginalized indigenous Somali communities. Our focus is on supporting the Madhiban, Muse Dhariyo, Tumal, and Yibir clans, collectively known as their political name “Gabooye“. We are devoted to uplifting these communities, whether they reside in the Western world or East Africa. Our mission is to provide essential resources, advocacy, and opportunities for growth, ensuring that these vibrant cultures and histories are preserved and celebrated. Through our efforts, we strive to foster a more inclusive and equitable society for these marginalized communities.
