Our nonprofit runs a spirituality+justice newsletter with free and paid subscribers. I know that I'm not being as strategic as I can be around moving readers from free to paid subscriptions (I have many free readers; 6.6% are paid subscribers) as well as getting people who come to the site or find a piece on social media to subscribe. How much should be paywalled? Where and how often do I ask people to subscribe? How often do I send free readers semi-paywalled content? I would be glad for wisdom and brainstorming help figuring this out.

Life is a Sacred Text (LiST) is an everybody-celebratory, collective liberation-forward newsletter and online magazine (LifeIsASacredtext.com) offering “nourishment for your heart, soul and noggin” and using Torah for thought leadership and public education, to both transform and activate. The brainchild of award-winning author and activist Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg, LiST uses sacred myth and history as both mirror and window to life more clearly. It teaches the core truth of the inherent holiness of every human; our obligations towards mutual care; accurate history and our tools for fighting Empire; and how we might bring about the world we seek to create.
