Horace Mann famously declared education “the great equalizer” in 1848, the most powerful tool for social and economic mobility and equality. Over 175 years later, it’s still the silver bullet but there are substantial barriers in place that block equitable and just access to high-quality, safe, and affordable education for all. It’s critical that we understand education challenges affecting communities across the United States and globally—and how we can each take action to support nonprofits working towards solutions.
