After more than seven years of serving the local community, Taproot finally has a place to call its own in New York City. As of Monday, we’ve moved to a brand new office in Tribeca on the sixth floor of 40 Worth Street.
Sure, we love our swanky digs for the open floor plan, sleek glass-and steel-design elements, modern furniture, abundant windows, and the fabulous view of the Manhattan skyline (are you jealous yet?). But it’s more than just the look of the room–it’s also the energy and freedom that comes from having a home of our own.
And just to demonstrate what a perfect fit it is for the Taproot team, we’ve found that our values are the best way to describe our new space.
Pragmatic Optimism
We’ve built our offices with room to grow. With only a 14-person staff, there are a still number of empty desks still waiting to be filled as we build our capacity to serve the needs of New York City. In the meantime, we are hosting friends and partners who are volunteering their skills to help us transition.
Impact Oriented
Our focus has always been first and foremost the needs of local nonprofits. An office of our own, with its sexy glass conference space and call rooms, allows us to serve clients even better by giving us an inviting place to conduct in-house trainings, host topical salons for philanthropic leaders, or allow our pro bono teams to hold meetings.
Playful Professionalism
With bright yellow walls and plenty of natural light, you can’t walk in here without a smile on your face. There’s loads of Taproot personality in this playful office. It’s a fun place to work, and we get a lot of it done, too. The environment here is more collaborative, which will allow us to share ideas and be even more innovative about delivering pro bono services to to New York City.
Progress
Every day, we’re moving forward, and the new office is just one sign of our onward progress. We haven’t quite finished unpacking yet, but here’s a little sneak peek from our moving day. Please excuse the mess while we get settled, and stay tuned in the upcoming months for an invitation to our open house!
We’d like to express our appreciation to Time Inc., who graciously hosted us with in-kind office space for the past few years, and to Gap Inc. for their generous donation of furnishings. We also want to extend our gratitude to our friend John Cary for advising us on design decisions and helping us secure great deals on beautiful furniture. And last but not least, thank you to everyone on the New York team who assisted with the big move, and especially to Jacob Fisher, who oversaw every detail of the relocation with incredible grace and professionalism.
