The pencils have been sharpened and the backpacks are packed, which can only mean one thing: back to school season is upon us! As families and teachers prepare for a busy fall, education nonprofits are also gearing up for the new school year. Educational equity is an issue that touches communities across the United States and abroad, and we are grateful for the many organizations working diligently to improve outcomes for young people and ensure that schools have the resources they need.
Earlier this year, Taproot hosted a Social Issue Spotlight Panel with nonprofit leaders working in education. The conversation touched on a range of topics including mental health awareness in schools, mentorship for early career teachers, and how outside organizations can best support school staff and students. The panelists also discussed the impact that Taproot volunteers have had on their organizations’ work, allowing them to expand their capacity and reach new audiences.
As a skilled volunteer, your expertise is a vital resource in helping education-focused nonprofits achieve their missions. From reimagining school lunches to supporting early literacy skills, there are opportunities to make a difference in many aspects of students’ lives. Check out the Taproot Projects highlighted below and let that back-to-school excitement inspire you to help change education for the better!
