Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation (KCCF) is a new rapidly growing non profit organization. At the moment we have 4 board members who are helping with governance. We are interested in recruiting professional board members who have experience in the non profit world as well as people with an extensive network to come into the fold and help us with fundraising and governing the organization to help us get to the next level so that we can help even more children.
We can also use additional guidance for processes used to recruit new board members.
KCCF is seeking board candidates with strong backgrounds in fundraising, and we need help finding qualified and passionate individuals to support our mission. The ideal candidate would be willing to participate actively in fundraising and donor cultivation, be an advocate for the organization and its mission within the community, and govern the organization to ensure adequate financial resources and stability - among other responsibilities.
Our existing board is committed and resourceful, but experience in the nonprofit sector is limited. We've been using tools such as LinkedIn and BoardStrong to reach potential candidates, but we could use the expertise of an individual with experience developing nonprofit boards to guide our efforts. A strong board will be critical for the survival and success of our organization going forward. It should be noted that KCCF is completely operated by volunteers.
KCCF is located in New York City, but this project can be executed virtually.
We have created an effective system for helping families with children battling cancer. There is a great need for the assistance that we provide. To support this effort, we need a strong board who can give or get as well as with fundraising experience and a good network to join us to help to take the organization to the next level. We also could use support of board members who have extensive experience in the previous board roles. Our organization is supported by a couple of well-known billionaires, hedge fund managers, and we are partnered with the fire department and the local police department, among other local communities. We’ve appeared on all the major news networks, including the big 3, among others, as well as social media, to help promote our cause. We are looking for additional senior experienced personnel/board members to assist our efforts.
Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation (KCCF) is a child-led, adult-supported organization that works to heal the financial and emotional wounds of childhood cancer. KCCF was founded in February 2020 by Elana Koenig, 12-year-old cancer survivor, singer, and speaker. Elana was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, when she was 8 years old. Upon completing her aggressive treatment, she felt compelled to help the kids left behind in the hospital.
Over the past year, KCCF has grown significantly - despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of volunteers from around the world, KCCF takes on the challenges families face when the unimaginable happens. So far, we've helped more than 40 families. When the foundation supports a family, that includes medical payments not covered by insurance, travel and housing related costs, emotional care (e.g., care packages, virtual support visits), and other needs related to cancer and its consequences.
To continue carrying out this life-saving work, we need the support of a strong board with the knowledge and resources to ensure the organization's future success. We hope to help many more families going forward, and we need the guidance of skilled volunteers to make that a reality.
We will make sure to provide any information the volunteers need. Two people from the organization will be assigned to work with the volunteers obtained through Taproots Plus. We are available to meet them on a regular basis and provide the information that they need. We are ready to hire new volunteer board members who are the right fit.
Our current board members have developed a process for onboarding new board members, so we are ready to bring on qualified candidates once they are found. Ideally, the final product of this project would be an extended consultation on board development with a comprehensive marketing analysis and report on best practices for recruiting board members.
