Animation Technique Feedback and Guidance
We are looking for an experienced animation mentor to support our intern, who is working on creating animations for the Creshendo storytelling project. The intern is aiming to develop their skills in both 2D and 3D animation, character rigging, and motion graphics, with a focus on creating emotionally impactful and visually compelling animations.
The tasks we hope the mentor can assist with include:
• Offering guidance on animation techniques (2D/3D, rigging, motion graphics)
• Walking the intern through the production pipeline, from concept through to final render
• Providing feedback on animation drafts to help refine storytelling and visual impact
• Advising on building a polished portfolio with industry-ready projects
• Offering insights into software proficiency, particularly with tools like Blender, After Effects, Moho, or Maya
• Providing career guidance and networking advice to help our intern progress in the animation field
We are hoping the mentor can share feedback and advice to help our intern grow in both technical skills and creative confidence.
This project is central to advancing Creshendo’s mission of using storytelling to amplify diverse voices and experiences. The animations created through this mentorship will serve as powerful, engaging tools that help us tell the stories of marginalized communities—specifically refugees and displaced individuals—making their experiences more visible and relatable.
By supporting the intern’s growth as an animator, this project will directly contribute to:
• Elevating Refugee Voices: Through the animations, we aim to share the personal stories of refugees, showcasing their resilience and the cultural richness they bring to their new communities. These animations will be used in advocacy and digital storytelling initiatives, amplifying the voices of those who are often unheard. We also hope to COMBAT the increasingly dangerous anti-immigrant sentiments that are spreading locally and internationally.
• Building Community Engagement: The storytelling project is designed to foster empathy and understanding across cultures. These animations will be shared with diverse audiences, helping to bridge gaps between refugee and host communities and encourage cultural exchange.
• Showcasing Artistic Talent: By guiding the intern through the creative process, we’re not only building their individual skills but also contributing to the broader animation industry. Their work will demonstrate the power of animation as a medium for social change and humanitarian storytelling.
The volunteer’s time and expertise will have a lasting impact on both the intern’s career and on the success of the Creshendo project. Together, we can create animations that not only highlight the power of storytelling but also contribute to the broader conversation about inclusion, human rights, and the refugee experience. Your support will help make this project a compelling, impactful reality.
We’ve set this project up for success by ensuring strong internal buy-in and preparing all the necessary resources for the volunteer to hit the ground running.
Here are some key preparations we’ve made:
• Clear Objectives: We have defined goals for the intern, including skill development in animation techniques and portfolio enhancement.
• Structured Timeline: We’ve created a roadmap for the intern’s growth and set realistic deadlines for them to complete animations, ensuring that the mentor’s guidance will be timely and effective.
• Materials & Resources: The intern already has access to industry-standard software and a selection of previous animation work to refine. We have also compiled reference materials and examples of the type of work we’re aiming for.
• Support System: Our internal team, including the intern’s supervisor, is available to ensure that the work is on track, and we’ll help integrate any feedback from the mentor into the intern’s daily work. This will ensure that mentorship advice is translated into practical results.
• Commitment to Growth: The intern’s growth and the final deliverables from this mentorship will directly impact the storytelling project, and we will integrate these animations into our final presentations and campaigns, ensuring they are seen by both our internal team and external stakeholders.
We’re confident that with our preparation, we can make this mentorship a rewarding and impactful experience for both the intern and the volunteer.
