We are seeking experienced financial and lending professionals to help refine and optimize PYT Foundation’s Loanership™ program, ensuring it is financially sustainable, IRS-compliant, and effectively supports credit-building for students.
Key areas where we need assistance:
- Financial Model Optimization: Review and refine the loan-to-grant conversion process and scalable lending framework.
- IRS Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure our lending structure aligns with 501(c)(3) nonprofit finance regulations.
- Credit-Building Integration: Strengthen mechanisms that report student repayments to credit bureaus, boosting borrower credit scores.
- Loan Performance Tracking & Default Mitigation: Develop strategies to reduce default risk and optimize financial tracking systems.

The volunteer’s contributions will help PYT build a sustainable, scalable Loanership™ model, increasing student financial inclusion and economic mobility.
PYT’s mission is to eliminate financial barriers to education and economic mobility by offering students innovative funding solutions. This project directly supports our mission by:
- Ensuring students graduate with minimal debt through our loan-to-grant conversion incentives.
- Improving student financial stability by helping them build credit while in school.
- Scaling our Loanership™ program nationwide, giving more students access to last-mile tuition funding.
- Strengthening our path to CDFI certification, which will help us expand responsible lending to underserved communities.

By volunteering with us, you’ll create long-term financial access for thousands of students, ensuring they graduate, build credit, and secure better economic opportunities. Your expertise will change lives—one Loanership™ at a time.
We have laid a strong foundation for this project by:
- Gaining internal buy-in: Our leadership, finance, and compliance teams are aligned on project goals.
- Gathering necessary materials: We have a well-documented Loanership™ framework, impact data, and IRS-related financial records ready for review.
- Previous funding & research: PYT has secured funding from organizations like Goldman Sachs, Arkansas Community Foundation, and CDFI stakeholders, demonstrating a commitment to financial sustainability.
- Implementation plan in place: The recommendations from this project will be integrated into PYT’s AI-driven financial platform to automate loan tracking, credit-building, and compliance reporting.

We are fully prepared to collaborate with Taproot volunteers and ensure their expertise leads to tangible improvements in our lending model.

Organization Mission

At PYTF, we are dedicated to empowering underserved communities through innovative financial solutions. We strive to make higher education accessible and sustainable, recognizing the significant funding gaps that hinder many low to moderate-income undergraduate students from starting, staying in, and completing their degrees. Research indicates that financial obstacles account for 50% of the reasons why low-income students fail to complete their degrees. Our vision is to reshape the socioeconomic landscape by ensuring equitable access to education. Through our Student Loanership product offering—a unique blend of loan and scholarship—we connect families and banks to groundbreaking financing solutions. By harnessing technology and data, we bridge the higher education funding gap. Our program not only revolutionizes the scholarship industry but also places a strong emphasis on student advocacy, championing the financial interests, needs, and overall well-being of students. Join us in collaborating with students like you to forge a future where educational equity is universal, and every scholar has the resources to thrive, alongside student-driven initiatives.
