Marketing Strategy For Special Event
Seeking assistance from a Taproot volunteer to develop a marketing strategy for CommUNITY Outreach Day, which will be held during National CPR and AED Awareness Week, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, , at the Cannon Street Community Center, 515 Cannon Street, Syracuse, NY 13205.
A primary goal of CommUNITY Outreach Day is to foster connections and engagement by providing opportunities for residents to interact, learn, and access resources available to them within our community. This intergenerational event was designed to strengthen community ties and foster leadership through cultural arts, education, and training activities in community resiliency and preparedness. This event expects to attract 300+ attendees, of all ages, especially those in Syracuse’s Southside.

Your volunteer assistance in creation of the CommUNITY Outreach Day Marketing Strategy will make a lasting impact towards improving quality of life, creating awareness, promoting resiliency, and demonstrating collective action, all of which align with our mission. The CommUNITY Outreach Day encourages participant exploration of diverse community resources and service providers. With so many moving parts to this event (A Chance to Be Seen Variety Show, Family Fun Zone, Interactive Training and Workshops, Information Booths, and more), a comprehensive marketing strategy is a must to make this a success.
Why a CommUNITY Outreach Day?
Syracuse ranks among the worst cities in the country for child poverty, with rates as high as 46%. Poverty often leads to limited access to essential services like healthcare, food, housing, and education, and results in high unemployment and drop\out rates. Economic hardship diminishes resident’s time, energy, and resources for civic participation, leading to social fragmentation and isolation. The CommUNITY Outreach Day offers a solution by including a cultural event as a draw that fosters engagement, social unity, connection and encouraging active involvement despite economic challenges.
We hope you will say yes to helping create a comprehensive marketing strategy.
We welcome the assistance of Taproot volunteers to make this project a success. We have been working with volunteers on a project management workplan and implementing Monday.com to aid in tracking progress.
Event Overview: The CommUNITY Outreach Day will feature: (*new activity for 2025)
• “A Chance to Be Seen” Variety Show* – showcase of local talent.
• Volunteer Fair* – connecting attendees to local volunteer opportunities.
• Workshops* – CPR, emergency preparedness, and other skills training.
• Informational Booths – valuable community resources and local services.
• Family Fun Zone – fun activities for all ages.
We currently have the venue secured for the date and time. We have received grant funding towards event expenses and are still seeking other support and in-kind contributions. We have met with city officials for required permits. We have a preliminary save this date flier and project description that we have been sharing with community members at local events. We are at the stage of recruiting volunteers and selecting acts for the variety show and community organizations for tabling events. We have made a request for a Taproot volunteer to help design the Community Program Passport.
We are slightly three months out from June 7, 2025 and a marketing strategy is absolutely needed.
