Our organization is looking to maximize the way we collect and analyze impact data to better demonstrate our value to stakeholders and position ourselves to secure capacity-building revenue!

We're in search of a volunteer to help us optimize our impact data infrastructure by recommending improvements to our current data collection processes across our organization and developing a data tool to visualize key data insights.

This project will include the following potential tasks:

- Conduct an audit of our current data collection processes and the type of data points currently collected.
- Recommend enhancements to our data collection processes to ensure we're capturing the most relevant data to demonstrate our program impact.
- Develop a data visualization tool that allows our organization to track our key performance indicators (KPIs), identify program trends, and pull key impact insights.

By optimizing our infrastructure for collecting and analyzing impact data, we'll be better equipped to further improve our ability to demonstrate our value to potential funders and secure empowering financial resources.
At You Matter 2, we are deeply committed to closing opportunity gaps for Black and Brown youth through transformative programs in leadership, career readiness, and social-emotional development. Our mission is to ensure young people are equipped with the confidence, tools, and access they need to thrive in school, in the workplace, and in life.

This project will help us build a robust impact data infrastructure—the backbone of how we track, measure, and communicate our results. From pre- and post-surveys to micro-credential tracking and long-term alumni outcomes, we need systems that help us go beyond good stories and into measurable, scalable success.

With the support of skilled Taproot volunteers, we’ll be able to:

🧩 Develop meaningful frameworks to track our outcomes across programs like Discover U and IGNITE

📊 Design systems to collect both quantitative metrics and qualitative stories from students, mentors, and partners

🧠 Use data to inform programming, secure funding, and improve services in real-time

🔁 Build sustainable tools for ongoing evaluation, learning, and impact storytelling

Volunteers will play a key role in shaping how we tell our story—not just with emotion, but with evidence. Your skills will directly support high school students discovering college and career pathways, middle schoolers building confidence in who they are, and future leaders gaining real-world experience.

This is more than a data project—it's a chance to build something that proves the power of believing in young people.
To support the execution of this project, the volunteer will have access to staff members who work closely with our data collection and reporting processes. We will provide details about our program, mission, and vision, as well as materials currently used for data collection (e.g. surveys intake forms, budgetary information about program expenses, etc.) Additionally, we'll share how we're currently using data to communicate with key stakeholders and support our fundraising efforts.
