Like the core root of a plant that inspires our name, Taproot nourishes social change organizations by connecting them with the expertise and insights of skilled volunteers, enabling both to thrive.

Taproot Foundation, a national nonprofit, connects nonprofits and social change organizations with passionate business professionals who share their expertise pro bono. Taproot is creating a world where organizations dedicated to social change have full access—through pro bono service—to the marketing, strategy, HR, and IT resources they need to be most effective. Since 2001, Taproot’s network of skilled volunteers has served over 10,000 social change organizations providing more than 1.9 million hours of service worth over $280 million in value. Taproot has offices in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and co-founded a network of global pro bono providers in over 30 countries around the world.

Through our Theory of Change, we will help social change organizations solve critical societal problems by ensuring that pro bono service is a readily available, effective, trusted, and commonly used resource for social change organizations to achieve their mission.

Our Values

Pragmatic optimism

Pragmatic Optimism

We believe it takes audacity to try to change the world and effective management to follow through.

Impact-Oriented

We believe effective pro bono service puts the needs of the clients first.

Playful Professionalism

We believe when people integrate their personality and values into their work, they have the greatest impact and are most fulfilled.

Progress

We believe people, organizations, and societies must constantly move forward to survive.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We commit to growing our Taproot community into one that is increasingly diverse of backgrounds, identity, and experience. We recognize that solving the social problems of today and tomorrow will require the audacious efforts of a movement of people who are as diverse in every respect as our world in general, and each of the regions we partner with in particular.
