For nearly ten years, Shero Comics has built its audience largely through grassroots marketing, founder-led outreach, and interns. This approach has helped us earn awards, museum placements, media coverage, and a growing audience, but we have never had the resources to hire an experienced publicist or PR strategist. Multiple accelerators and advisors have identified professional publicity as one of the key missing pieces preventing us from reaching a larger audience. We are launching the Kickstarter for Young Grandmaster Choi Chapter 3 on October 13, 2026. We have a strong story, established audience, previous crowdfunding experience, media contacts, and an intern team ready to execute, but we need an experienced professional to help us turn these assets into a coordinated PR and marketing campaign. We are seeking support in developing a strategy that can strengthen our pre-launch efforts where timing allows, create momentum around launch, expand our reach beyond our existing audience, and sustain publicity and engagement throughout the Kickstarter campaign.
By the end of the project, we would like the consultant to create an actionable PR and marketing roadmap for the Young Grandmaster Choi Chapter 3 Kickstarter covering pre-launch opportunities where timing allows, launch-day strategy, and ongoing promotion throughout the campaign.Deliverables should include key messaging and story angles; priority audiences; recommended media outlets, journalists, influencers, creators, and promotional partners; a media pitching strategy; social media and email recommendations; and ideas for maintaining momentum through campaign milestones, reward reveals, press coverage, and other promotional opportunities.Because the Kickstarter launches October 13, we understand that some pre-launch recommendations may need to be adapted or executed quickly depending on when the consultant begins. Our priority is developing a strategy that remains useful throughout the entire campaign.Success would mean our team has clear priorities, messaging, target audiences, and an actionable publicity roadmap that our founder and interns can execute to increase awareness, media opportunities, audience growth, and Kickstarter backers.

Shero Comics is building the “Harry Potter of Education” by creating diverse stories and interactive experiences in the mediums young people are gravitating toward—including manga, anime, and gaming—and transforming them into supplemental learning experiences disguised as entertainment. Through engaging characters, immersive storytelling, and social-emotional learning (SEL), we help young people explore real-world issues such as bullying, self-esteem, identity, and belonging in ways that feel less like a lesson and more like an adventure. Simply put, we make really cool comics, manga, and experiences that teach important lessons while kids are having fun.
